You should reroll into a different career and save yourself a lot of grief - your playstyle is clearly better suited for one of the other careers (sounds like engineering from what you've said) and you'll be happier in the long run. On the ground, they can bring a sword to a gunfight. APA in space is nice, but its long CD and short duration make it meh. Gas used to work, but it seems less effective than just shooting stuff now. Science got photonic fleet which is awesome, but sensor analysis is only useful on bosses and only then on harder difficulty levels, and I can't even recall what the other buttons DO and its my main! On the ground, my science char self heals and shoots, most of the skills are useless. On the ground they got toys that win the fight for you. In space you got MW which can keep the most fragile raider alive, and a shield heal as well. That has nothing to do with your class though.Įngineer did get the winning hand on ground and space both.

Space side, why do you feel you have to pair with command? I personally like pilot a lot you get a ton of defenses that mesh amazingly with fragile dps ships, from defenses against rear arc hits to ignoring warp core breach fly through and the amazing R&R dodge roll. Is there a way to save my original main? Or should I just abandon my Tac and pick up Science or Engineering for a better experience? So what's the point of even having them or rolling one? Even saying they can do the most damage isn't impressive because with all the consoles and space magic tornadoes and stuff I see now-a-days, everything gets blown up in mere seconds anyways. So am I missing something? How do I get good class flavor and fun play style out of a Tac/Command officer? It seems like anything they can do, anyone else can do better.

Like, seriously, why do Engineers get to command an Orbital Strike? How is that not Tactical/Command? Even their attacks are lackluster compared to Engineers. There's nothing they do that can't be replaced by consoles or universal kits. With the way STO lets you build your captain's skills, it feels like Eng and Sci can be anything from DPS to Tanks to Healers while Tactical/Command are stuck just pew pewing in the back. You get like 2 short-lived auras, some weak security team that only lasts for 1 fight before a medium cooldown, and everything else is just attacks and dmg increase. They're like somewhere between a rogue, a healer, and some kind of mad scientist. The Science officer feels like they're up next with photonic fleet, debuffs, aoe heals, single target heals, gas attacks, various different buffs, various different debuffs, poisons, stimulants, and more. They seem to have it all and the flavor of their play style is oh so sweet. Filed works, laying mines, turrets, mortars, aoe health heals, aoe shield heals, self and single target shield heals, orbital strikes, an oh-♥♥♥♥ button like space lay on hands, you name it. The Engineer seems to have been given all the love in my opinion. So far, I have found nothing that the Tac officer does that cannot be simulated or all-out replaced by Sci officer abilities or consoles. Why did they give the decreased cooldown and negated 50% HP requirement for Fleet Support to Engineers? That also has Command/Tactical written all over it. Like, why did they give Orbital Strike to an Engineer? That should be Command/Tactical. It feels so bland compared to Sci and Eng.

What is the point of Tac? I mean, seriously. Ok so this is going to sound like a rant, and it is, but I'm genuinely looking for feedback to hopefully prove me wrong and give me a reason not to abandon my old main with all the cool unlocks and stuff.
